Melgar_IntoTheCave

Image
In this assignment, we had to create an audio of walking into a cave. (The IntoTheCave audio is after the logo animation) Professor Neville walked us through an example, and I took inspiration from that. In my audio, you hear a storm and footsteps, as the person walks into the cave the storm gets quieter and the footsteps start to echo, when suddenly, a demonic laugh erupts and the person who walked in comes out running while yelling. I added the demonic laugh and yell because caves are scary, who knows what’s in there, so I had that scenario with the person running out of the cave yelling for their life. I liked how we were able to create a scenario just with audio, and how we learned how to tweak the audio to add echo and distance and space. I enjoyed brainstorming on what scenario to do, and then finding the audios I wanted to use, and then tweaking them to fit into the cave scenario. It felt like you could see what was going on just by listening to the audio and I thought tha...

In this project, I had to outline a picture of me and make it a cartoon version. At first, I wasn’t sure how this would turn out because I was new to using the pen tool but as I started using it throughout the project, I ended up getting the hang of it and understanding how to make some objects over others to make this image come together. I zoomed in closely to outline all the small features in the image. Once the outlining was done, I used the eyedropper tool to get the colors from the original image to the outlines. I enjoyed the entire process of outlining and putting it all together, once the colors were in, being able to see it all as a complete image was very rewarding. I didn’t think it would have come out as good as it did. I enjoyed seeing how much the little details matter and how much they added to the entire image. The shades of the colors help distinguish the different features. Some improvements would be to add more of those little features, more to the hair, the...

This project I added to the background image, while I was researching for images I found this one of a sunset at a beach. I thought of making a pirate-themed image. I looked for more images of things to add on, I already knew I needed an image of a pirate ship and a pirate. So, I added the ship far into the background making it small to show the distance and facing it at the sunset to show the sun's reflection. I found a picture of Captain Jack Sparrow walking forward, I darkened it as the sun was behind him and added his shadow to the sand. At this point it still felt like something was missing so I added an image of a treasure chest and edited it to look half buried on the shore. And finally, most pirates always must have a companion so a bird flying across the sky with the sunset reflecting from under its wings. What I liked about this assignment was I was able to show my creativity by finding a normal picture and adding elements to it and making it a completely new image. L...

Melgar_AnimatedLogo

This project was about taking our personal logo and animating it. One thing I knew I wanted to do with my logo from the very beginning was make the soccer ball pattern spin, making it seem like it was moving like it was kicked. Secondly, I wanted to do something with the number and symbols on the sides. Originally, I wanted them to tilt from left to right in place, kind of like a shake. However, they were all connected as one so I couldn’t make one shake on its own, so I decided to make it grow from the center of the logo, making it come out of the center of the ball. And finally, I added a cheering sound to resemble a crowd. What I liked about this assignment was how we started off at the first level, which was brainstorming and making our own logo that represented ourselves. Now the next step is animating it. I like that I was able to add on to the original logo I made, I added more while only using the characteristics that the logo already includes. I was able to make the logo...

Melgar_Colorized

For this assignment, I chose an image of Ana Wong. I picked her image because it was mainly concentrated on her. I decided to choose a really light brownish/tannish color for skin, I added a light pink blush to her cheekbone. A dark red/purple wine-like color for her lipstick and a dark blue for her dark hair. For her dress and hat, it looked like it was silky material, so I chose to give it a light purple color with the background curtains being red to make her stand out even more. What I liked about this assignment was how we were able to give color to a black and white image and make it seem realistic. We got to choose what colors and shades to use and try to make it realistic, so if 2 people chose the same image of Ana Wong to colorize, they won't be the same because each person has the freedom to choose the colors that they think best fit. Some things I could’ve improved on would be the color selection, even though I like the colors I chose, they are a bit too “hot” or s...

This is my personal logo, I took inspiration from an in-class example Professor Neville showed to us, as well as many professional soccer/football clubs that also have a similar circular logo concept. I have my name in the logo in white which contrasts with the navy blue and red, I chose those colors because those were the colors for my high school soccer team. Besides my name, I have the number I wore right in the middle, with a soccer ball pattern in the background. And finally, a pair of cleats and stars to add to the empty space. I enjoyed this assignment a lot, I really like to create things, and I was able to express myself and create a logo that represented a chapter in my life as well as one of my favorite hobbies. Learning how to use all the tools and being able to use them to create and design objects out of nothing is something I'm glad I was able to learn. If there are some improvements, I could make one would be the stars and cleats, I would’ve maybe added somethin...

Golden Rule of Design

Image
This image shows an example of the Golden Rule of Design, we see the middle of the origin being the people walking down the sidewalk. That area seems to be cluttered with most of the stuff going on in the image being on that right side. As the spiral moves right, it gets to go into some space, showing us how the image gives us a bit of both. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This image is another example of Golden Rule of Design. We see the main focus being the head of the man and we are shown it slowly spiral around the edge and get towards the area that the man is working. Then it the spiral ends up in the empty space. This image is mostly cluttered on the right side but eventually finds its way into some space on the left side. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her we can see the origin of the spiral b...
